Hi everyone!
My name is Kerstin Heitzenrater, and I am the president of the Alpha Gamma chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta! It is my pleasure to share a glimpse of our remarkable sisterhood and the reasons I am honored to be a Theta!
As an out-of-state student, I sought a community where I could truly belong. Through the recruitment process, I found that community at 1861 Indiana Avenue, where I was warmly welcomed by over 250 new sisters. Since then, it has become a space where I can be my authentic self, knowing that I have the steadfast support of my sisters.
Being the first in my family to join Greek life, I placed great importance on finding a chapter whose values resonated deeply with me. Every time I stepped into Theta's house, I felt an immediate connection to the values of authenticity, compassion, and tenacity. Now, two years later, I can confidently say that these principles are embodied by every woman in our chapter, creating an environment that fosters personal growth and empowers us all to become our best selves. I am incredibly grateful to be part of an organization that so wholeheartedly upholds
these ideals.
One of the aspects of Theta that captivated me most during recruitment was the active members' commitment to our philanthropy CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). I was deeply moved by how invested our members are in supporting children in foster care. As someone who was raised with a strong love for service, the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful cause immediately felt like a natural fit.
As you take this exciting step toward discovering your place, I want to share my heartfelt excitement for you. The journey ahead will be transformative. My advice, as someone who tends to overthink, is to trust your heart. Choose the community where you feel a true connection with the women around you, where you can see yourself making lifelong memories and finding a sense of belonging.
